Such a wonderful experience during our trip to the Cotswolds! The model village is incredibly charming, and the little miniature buildings are so cute and detailed. It's amazing to see the whole of Bourton perfectly replicated in tiny scale. Highly recommend visiting!
A beautiful Bourton-on-the-Water. It took me two hours to get there on a hot bank holiday, but it was absolutely worth it. The model village is small and doesn’t take long to explore, but when you walk into the actual town, you realize many of the houses are just like those in the exhibition. A charming place with light sandy-coloured buildings, picturesque little bridges, and ice cream shops on almost every corner.
A small model village of the village… with a model of the model village within. Very cute and good for a half an hour. Fantastic for small children but still interesting for other ages. There is a buggy park outside.
Model Village in Bourton-on-the-Water is a charming and surprisingly detailed miniature replica of the village itself, built at one-ninth scale using local Cotswold stone. The craftsmanship is impressive, with tiny bridges, shops, churches, and even miniature gardens capturing the character of the real village perfectly. One of its most unique features is the “model within a model” effect, where you can spot a tiny version of the Model Village inside itself. The attraction is compact but enjoyable, making it ideal for families, photographers, and anyone exploring the Cotswolds. The peaceful atmosphere and attention to detail make it more memorable than many typical tourist attractions. While it may not take long to walk through, the creativity and charm easily make it worth a visit when in Bourton-on-the-Water.
We visited the Model Village in Bourton-on-the-Water during the term holidays, and as expected, it was quite busy. There was a short queue for admission since they don’t offer advance booking. The location is lovely, right in the heart of the village, and the craftsmanship of the model itself is genuinely impressive. You can clearly see the immense amount of time, effort, and detail that has gone into recreating the miniature version, it’s beautiful and very creative. However, my first impression was that it felt quite cramped and overcrowded. With so many visitors at once, it was difficult to fully appreciate the finer details. Limiting admissions or expanding the space would really improve the experience. I also felt that the ticket pricing for children was a bit steep. Overall, I did enjoy strolling through and admiring the work that’s gone into it, but it’s more suited for a short visit rather than a longer stay. Worth seeing once, especially if you’re around in the Cotswold.
