Took the kids swimming, it my first visit to the Oval and for swimming it was very good. They have shared changing with cubicles which is useful for family use, lots of showers and lockers (take a pound coin). Pool was good, they had separation in place so families had the majority of the pool during this pubic swimming times and the swimlanes were well organised with a clockwork directional system in place. There was also a training pool for younger children. Also has plenty of free parking.

Very disappointed with our recent experience at The Oval Leisure Centre swimming pool. My 11-year-old son was asked to leave the pool while simply enjoying himself with his friends. Staff accused him of doing back flips in the pool, which I found difficult to believe, and what concerned me most was that other children appeared to be behaving similarly yet were not approached or removed. The situation caused my son considerable embarrassment and upset. I also found the manager’s attitude afterwards extremely disrespectful and patronising when I tried to discuss the matter as a concerned parent. Rather than handling the situation calmly and professionally, I felt spoken down to and dismissed. I fully understand the importance of pool safety and appropriate behaviour rules, but children should be treated fairly, consistently and with respect. Unfortunately, that was not our experience on this occasion. I have since submitted a formal complaint

Staff are friendly. I was using this gym for the first time in many years today only to find out this isn’t a place I’ll be returning to as someone visiting the area. They have a rack which as is normal is there to be used for squats , shoulders presses , dead lifts etc but there’s a sign saying NO benching pressing as apparently it might damage the wood block! When you are benching heavy you need to use a rack with safety bars and correct positioning for bar height . Why make this so user unfriendly! The alternative equipment was not suitable . Disappointing as the location was convenient.

Gym staff are absolutely lovely, always happy to have a chat and help if needed! The receptionists however are far from it. Every time I visit the gym, I am 99% of the time met with lack of enthusiasm. I often get the impression that I'm being a burden by inconveniencing them even though it is quite literally their job to help, I understand everyone has off days but this is every single time I visit and from reading other reviews I get the feeling that this is a shared experience.

Good gym with lots of equipment. Suitable for all types of workouts. The pool is also good, but can get a little busy at times. Otherwise, the invigor8 membership options are great and cheaper to other gyms I've found. They are open every day and also have many activity classes to join in with. Would definitely recommend.
