Visit websiteMe and the doggo loved it! Was a nice little climb up but manageable, despite doggo being a cone head. Wonderful views and a great piece of history to visit 😊😁
A fantastic place to stop after a long walk. I took a short break here and had lunch, which was a great decision. The Sill offers a really welcoming space with plenty to explore and discover making it more than just a stop off point. There are clean and accessible toilets, a café upstairs serving good food and drinks, and both indoor and outdoor seating areas including benches where you can relax and enjoy the surrounding views. It’s a perfect place to recharge before continuing a hike and adds to the overall experience of visiting the area. Highly recommended for walkers and visitors alike.
Interesting place, popular with hikers and those visiting Hadrian's Wall. Emphasis on renewable energy and local art. Cafe, toilets and shop on site. Part of the site is a Youth Hostel. Very popular place at peak times.
A delightful find on our brief walk over part of the Hadrian's Wall walk. Staff were attentive and friendly. The shop has a wide variety of local artists as well as generic visitor centre gifts for purchase all at reasonable prices. The exhibition was stunning and really interactive, great for kids who need to feel things through as well as the older kids and adults who can get stuck in learning about the area and history of the geography in the area. The cafe was a delight, food was well priced, great value for money, the portions were great and the coffee was so good we had to go back for another round.
Really impressive place. Friendly staff, decent coffee and food and the shop sells stuff you actually want to buy, rather than the usual tat. Lots of resources for walking and Sycamore Gap installation is really special. Parking is chargeable, but there's plenty of it, esp for motorhomes. Cafe staff very helpful, although the cook may benefit from a charm course.
