Wonderful to see the state rooms, sadly no pictures allowed inside. Audioguide is sufficient, security/timed entry was rather smooth. The grandeur is out of this world.

This is a place worth to visit once in a lifetime. It is overpriced. The tour takes around 1 hour, but there is no limited time you can spend inside. It’s a shame it’s forbidden to take photos inside. Don’t really understand reason behind it. Information that ball room is under renovation should be available while booking tickets and tickets price should reflect it. Anyway I would recommend to visit anyway if you’re into history and monarchy, otherwise you’d be disappointed.

🇬🇧The State Rooms Buckingham Palace 🎧More Than a Palace Tour Our visit to the Buckingham Palace State Rooms was already an unforgettable experience, but Elisabeth made it truly exceptional. We asked her which room had been used for Queen Elizabeth II’s famous Paddington sketch during the Platinum Jubilee and for the memorable James Bond (007) scene in the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony. Rather than simply pointing us in the right direction, she took the time to explain the history behind those moments in detail. She also shared fascinating stories about members of the Royal Family through the generations and revealed many of the subtle details and hidden symbolism within the palace’s magnificent interiors—things we would never have noticed on our own. Her knowledge, enthusiasm, and kindness brought the State Rooms to life. Thank you, Elisabeth, for turning a beautiful visit into an enriching and memorable one. Staff like you make Buckingham Palace an even more special place to visit. Highly recommended by Japanese friends.🇯🇵

It was okay. Visiting the tower of London was so much better. The state rooms were nice. No pictures allowed inside. I am biased because the Vatican tour was so amazing and authentic. They provide you with a mic and headset. Most of it just talks about when the items were purchased, from where, who purchased them, and brief description of them. Not saying this was bad. Just not as exciting as we hoped. Made it through in less than an hour. It’s not rushed so if you wanted to spend more time you absolutely could.

On arrival, there was quite a queue at gate C, but it did move fairly quickly. The entry process is very strict with bag checks and body scanners but quick and efficient. Once through, you're free to follow the state rooms around at your own pace. The detail of the palace is as luxurious and grand as you would imagine it all to be. Whether a fan of the royal family or not, the building itself is outstanding. The Garden Cafe, while nice to be able to stop and eat it, is very expensive. Water bottles are £4.50, and a slice of cake £8. Other simple meal options were around £7 / £8. On the way to the gardens, there is a large gift shop. Again, it was very expensive but it all depends on what type of souvenir you would like to take home. The gardens take you to the exit where we continued our walk around the front of the palace. We were lucky to time it to see the change of the guards which started at 3 lasting around 30 minutes. Having seen the palace just from the front on a previous trip to London, it's definitely worth a visit to the state rooms for an insight into the palace itself.
