Thornton Hough village green is at the heart of the village with access from Raby Road & Thornton Common Rd. opposite the village Smithy and the village church the area hosts a lovely play area with swings climbing frame, slides and a see-saw. There are also the village tennis club courts where spring -Autumn you can see matches being played, and a path around this area that is tarmac and mud free is lined with beautiful cherry trees, The path leads to the pavilion. After this lies the green itself. It is a lovely dog friendly area with trees and plenty of room for throwing a ball. There is also access to a permissive path. The biggest downsides to this lovely area is the football matches. & the football coaching. The area is left with rubbish on the pitch and around the pavilion, despite bins being provided, the noise is awful, the amount of cars clogs the village and the state of the pitch and surrounding areas in winter is just mud as the green floods so it is often very wet & soggy. During football match times the green is not usable with dogs. It is not a big enough space un-like Arrowe Park.

Lovely peaceful village with plenty of oldy worldy charm

Probably as picturesque village green you could ever wish for. A beautiful place within a beautiful village, local shop just across the road for any refreshments or snacks you may require. Great play park for little kids and football pitches too.

Thornton Hough is always a beautiful spot, regardless of the time of year, but particular so in the springtime with the trees in blossom. I wouldn't say the place is packed with tourist attractions, but with the village green, the pub and plenty of good footpaths, what more do you really need?
