Tollymore Forest Park at the foot of the Mourne Mountains is one of Ireland's finest forest parks, offering a magical woodland experience for visitors of all ages. The well maintained trails wind through ancient woodland, open meadows, and along the scenic Shimna River, with charming stone bridges adding to the fairytale atmosphere. The park is particularly beautiful in autumn when the foliage puts on a spectacular display of colour. An added bonus for fans of Game of Thrones, as several iconic scenes from the series were filmed here. A truly outstanding natural attraction that is highly recommended. The facilities are good with ample parking, clean toilet facilities, and picnic areas dotted throughout the park. A small entry fee applies but represents superb value given the outstanding natural beauty and variety of experiences on offer. A truly world class natural attraction and an absolute must visit for walkers, nature lovers, families, and outdoor enthusiasts alike. One of the crown jewels of County Down and highly recommended for anyone visiting the Mourne Mountains area.

Absolutely magical place ! Forests trully like from the "Hobbit" movie 💚 There is a 5 funt entrance fee there but it's worth it as you can spend here all day. Coffee and food truck on the site, lots of benches to sit there and eat and places for a grill. You can also camp there as there is a designated places for it . There are many walking trails , last time we took the River walk and now the longer mountain trails- both were beautiful but I think the river walk was more diverse with the bridges, flowers, river flow etc . Check opening times before arrival 🙌🏼 Perfect Saturday spend there 😎☀️

Absolutely amazing! So happy to pick this lovely walking route in our way to the hotel. The river side walking was breathtaking. Recommend to start with river trail.

We came here after hearing many recommendations, but unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate. By the time we arrived it was grey and rainy, and since the car park is paid, we decided not to go in for a proper walk without knowing whether we’d last five minutes or get completely soaked. That said, even just driving through gives a sense of how intriguing and beautiful this place is. The entrance gate is stunning, straight out of a fairytale, and the old stone buildings near the exit are equally impressive — clearly a place with character and history. We didn’t explore the trails this time, simply because we weren’t prepared for a wet walk, but it’s obvious this park deserves a proper visit in better weather. Definitely somewhere we’ll come back to when rain gear (and motivation) are on our side.
