Really nice art gallery. The Eric Ravilious exhibition is worth seeing.
Great destination! * Gallery one is newcomers. * Permanent Ravilious exhibition. * Latest expo is Comrades In Art - Artists Against Fascism- 5⭐
It was an unplanned visit but we enjoyed an hour appreciating artworks of local artists. Free admission to some of the galleries, paid galleries are free to people below 25 y.o. There's a cafe, restaurant, souvenir shop and free space for children to paint, draw or play. The place is very clean and staff are all polite and welcoming, also there is a massive lift which is good for people visiting with children, elderly and people with disability. During our visit, it was a little warm in building, not sure if there was air conditioning. We'll visit again someday. Thank you!
Lovely building, accessibility for disabled people is fantastic, staff are great but what a waste of a building! They could exhibit so much more in the spaces available. Very little to see unfortunately, compared to my last visit a few years ago. Seems to be all about expensive cafe and cinema. Would have loved to have seen more local arts and crafts, as before. Still well worth a visit but dont expect much right now!
The Towner is a top quality cultural centre in East Sussex, with a very fine permanent exhibition of Eric Ravilleous and Tirzah Garwood's works, as well as other temporary exhibitions. It also has a small but very comfortable cinema, showing the latest quality films and recordings of London theatre and opera. In addition, there is a nice shop and cafe. Altogether, recommended
