Another hidden gem of a walk with a tagged on bonus of lots of history. We park in a layby off the main road for this walk which is usually fine. Today (Boxing Day) it was a little busier but we still got two cars in. The layby can probably hold 6-8 cars. I believe there is an actual carpark at the other end of the trail if needed. The walk itself is lovely (see photos) and easy to do. Pathways are clear but there is plenty of opportunity to explore off the main path. I found myself venturing into the old china clay works (dating from 1870s onwards) which was fun to do. There are a couple of signs providing information for those keen to learn more. My daughter's and our cocker spaniel thoroughly enjoyed the walk and the river running alongside for the majority was a real highlight our four legged family member. I really enjoy this walk as my love of history and exploring things, in a super quiet setting, is all fully catered for. #familydadventures

This should be titled "Mill number 3" as it is the third of the trio of water wheel powered mills. There is a lot to explore of this mill including a badly corroded wheel frame. Tram tracks can be seen beside the chimney that once went to Wheal Arthur mine. The water to power this wheel was the outlet from the wheel above, an aqueduct was built (5th photo') for the water supply.

This is well worth a visit, but of a trek but worth every minute. We had so much fun exploring the ruins of the old mining buildings and the old wheels. Excellent add-on to our adventure!

Great place with a lot of history and nature. Several ruins of old mills, china clay pits and lot of trees and places to discover. Ideal for family walks (kids or dogs) both will appreciate the woodland 😁.
