One of the gems of the north coast footpath. Scenery very special and on day we visited sea was turquoise blue. Parking at higher car park give views of the local cricket pitch often called the most scenic. Lower car park nearest to cafe.

Valley of the Rocks is one of the most quietly magical places I’ve ever experienced. There’s something incredibly romantic about the way the rugged cliffs rise out of the earth, softened by the sea breeze and endless coastal views. Walking through the valley feels almost dreamlike, especially as the light changes and the sky melts into the ocean. It’s the kind of place where time slows down—you find yourself lingering a little longer, taking it all in, and not wanting to leave. Watching the wild goats wander along the rocks just adds to the charm, like something out of a storybook. It’s peaceful, intimate, and wonderfully untouched—perfect for a slow walk with someone special or even just a quiet moment to yourself. If you’re looking for somewhere that feels both wild and deeply romantic, this place is truly unforgettable.

Glorious scenery! Easy to visit by car, there is a car park around 1/2 mile east (with toilets), there's a bus service from barnstaple to Lynton which is only 1 mile away. There's a restaurant & tea room close to the car park. Also the coastal path goes through the valley. There's lots of goats too! Lots of people take their dogs, however, the coastal path to the east has a steep drop down to the sea, so probably not suitable for some dogs.

Valley of Rocks is an absolutely breathtaking place and a must-visit if you’re anywhere near Exmoor. The dramatic rock formations and sweeping coastal views are unlike anything else—truly unique and unforgettable. It’s perfect for a peaceful walk, with well-trodden paths and plenty of spots to stop and take in the scenery. We were lucky to see the wild goats, which added to the charm and character of the area. A beautiful escape into nature—highly recommended for anyone who enjoys stunning landscapes and a bit of tranquility.
