A lovely park a short walk from the high street in St Albans. Plenty of places to walk and explore, with lots of paths and nature. There’s also some fascinating history to discover, including Roman ruins and a preserved mosaic.

Stunning park in a very cute quaint area of St Albans right next to the cathedral. Random day trip and we just stopped of for the kids to have a play. Did not expect it to be so beautiful. There’s literally something for everyone. If you want to cycle, you can, there’s and outdoor trampoline (fee attached), mini gold (also fee attached), a splash park for those very hot days (and we’ve had many of those), a little cafe in the park. There’s even an outdoor gym and volley ball courts. After you’ve spent some time in the park there’s a really nice pub right outside for people who come without the kids, although it’s also child friendly. Definitely a good day out with the family.

Exploring Verulamium Park in St Albans was an incredible experience that felt like walking through history. Set within over 100 acres of beautiful parkland, this site was once the location of one of the largest Roman cities in Britain. Seeing the remains of the ancient Roman walls and the impressive hypocaust mosaic right in the middle of a modern park is truly unique. The park itself is centered around a stunning large lake, which is a haven for water birds and provides a very peaceful setting for a long walk. The wide-open grassy areas are perfect for a family picnic, and the view of the St Albans Cathedral overlooking the park is absolutely iconic. It is the perfect blend of cultural heritage and natural beauty. Tips for your visit: • Roman Heritage: Make sure to visit the Verulamium Museum on the edge of the park to see the incredible artifacts found on-site. • Lakeside Stroll: The path around the lake is paved and easy to walk, offering great views and plenty of benches to relax on. • Cathedral Views: For the best photo opportunity, head to the higher ground near the Roman walls to capture the Cathedral in the background. • Splash Park: If you're visiting with kids in the summer, the outdoor splash park is a fantastic local favorite. Verulamium Park is more than just a green space; it’s a journey back in time. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Hertfordshire! 🌳🏛️🦢

Verulamium Park is a lovely, spacious park that’s perfect for a relaxing day outdoors. The well-kept paths make it great for walking or jogging, and the large lake adds a peaceful touch with plenty of ducks and swans to watch. I enjoyed exploring the open green spaces, the historic Roman ruins scattered around, and the beautiful gardens. It’s an ideal spot for a picnic, reading a book, or just soaking up some fresh air. The park feels welcoming and family-friendly, with something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you’re a local or just visiting St Albans, Verulamium Park is a serene escape with a mix of nature and history.
