Enjoy a fantastic park with leisure facilities, a children's play area, skate park, and Walker Park Café serving refreshments.

Walker Park is a popular city park offering something for everyone in the family. Originally created in the late 19th century as a recreational space for local workers, the park has evolved into a modern leisure destination with excellent facilities spread across flat, accessible grounds. Families can enjoy a fantastic children's play area featuring swings, aerial runways, and climbing units suitable for under 14s. The park also boasts a multi-use games area for football, tennis, and basketball, two bowling greens, two football pitches, and a skate park. Well-maintained paths throughout the park are ideal for dog walking, jogging, and exploring with pushchairs or mobility scooters. Urban Green Newcastle rangers regularly organize family activities including bug safaris, bird box building, and kite making. The Walker Park Café, run by Walker Central FC, serves coffee, cakes, hot food, and ice cream right in the heart of the park. The Grade II Listed World War One memorial adds historic interest, while Walker Parks Rocks, a community rock painting and hiding group, offers a unique family activity. Floodlights are available for evening sports activities, and on-street parking is accessible in surrounding streets.

A popular gathering spot for teenagers. Be prepared for unprovoked insults, hostile mocking, sexual harassment and even hate-motivated violence. I wouldn’t recommend it to visitors, especially those who aren’t locals.
