A lovely park. Highly maintained and kept tidy by many volunteers and by park users, who share the maintenance. It has several playgrounds, two benched picnic areas, a river, interesting wildlife, many walks and wooded areas, also a Green Flag, which says it all really :)

This park has changed massively since I was younger. It's not the biggest park in the area, still something for all locals of all ages to do.

Me & my child love going to this park, whether it is just for a sit down & some fresh air, a play on the park or a walk as there is a woodland area you can walk through & be near the river & just in nature.

Walverden Park is the prettiest park in Nelson. It has the usual play areas and MUGA for kids and a beautiful, hilly, wooded area that is full of wildlife and winding paths. It is only small but has a stream/river (depends how much rain we've had) at the bottom. If you are lucky you might hear a woodpecker early in the morning or an owl late at night.
