Visit websiteWe got a gift voucher from friends to this amazing place. We live in area many years but have never heard of it. Now I am sure my son will ask me to return there again and again. We suggest to get tickets for Planetarium show, well worth a money. Something to keep in mind - with a day ticket you can return through out the day several times. My son didn't want to leave unless we tried out and seen everything there We The Curious made us curious.
We came here to see Mesmerica 360 in the Planetarium. The show was ok, I felt they could have done a bit more with it. But the kids enjoyed it. The area is a buzz of activity and there are plenty of things to do. We didn't wait but had a time slot of 6.45 pm for when the show started.
We spend an excellent few hours here. There are a lot of interaction stations to try different things, from different length pipes making difference pitches, making motion stop films, creating bubbles, learning about space, our bodies, animals, nature and much more. The kids enjoyed speaking with the staff who let them hold shells, bugs and even a meteorite! We decided on the day to buy tickets for the planetarium and really enjoyed the experience of being surrounded by planets and moons, it was worth the £4 per person to have this as an extra. There's a section for under 8s, so that was nice they have a section all to themselves. My kids are 10 plus, and they found it really interesting. I think there's something for every age. We at at the cafe as we only had 30 minutes before the planetarium show. There is no meat, but it was surprisingly tasty. And not just packaged food, they have chefs there and a busy kitchen. The food was tasty and seemed quite healthy. We only went here because we did not have time to go to one of the restaurants outside (but if you have longer then that is also an option), and we were surprisingly pleased, much better than many other museum cafe's we have been to. Would definitely recommend it if you are thinking of something to do in Bristol
I went to We The Curious in Bristol with my nephew and honestly it ended up being one of those days where both the kid and the adult end up enjoying it just as much as each other. The place has this mix of science, colour and hands on stuff that keeps you busy without even realising how fast the time goes. We both had our own favourite bits. For me, I really liked how interactive everything is. Nothing just sits there gathering dust, you actually get to press things, spin things and figure stuff out. My nephew absolutely loved the colour octagon wheel, and I have to admit I did too. It is so bright and weirdly satisfying to play around with. We must have stood there for ages just messing with it. Another thing I really liked was how friendly the staff were. They actually talk to you like they enjoy being there. My nephew loved the little experiments section where you can try out different gadgets and watch stuff light up or move. It kept him completely focused which is rare for him. The planetarium though, that is the best bit of the whole place. You go in thinking it is just a dome with stars, but it is amazing and creative and feels like you get pulled into the show. Barney the host was brilliant as well. Really funny, really clear and you can tell he enjoys what he does. He made the whole thing feel alive, like you are actually floating around space instead of sitting in a room in Bristol. I also liked how much variety there is. Every corner has something different going on. My nephew enjoyed the section with shadows and lights, and we both liked the big mechanical displays you can play with. By the end of it we were both tired but still felt like we could have stayed another hour. Overall We The Curious is one of those places that gets science right. It is colourful, creative and fun without feeling like school. If you go with kids they will be buzzing, but even as an adult you end up enjoying it more than you expect.
We The Curious is a strong choice for a family-friendly outing or even for adults with an interest in science or interactive learning. It hits the “fun + learning” sweet spot, especially for those who like to try things hands-on. Just be aware of the crowd factor (go at a calmer time if possible) and the need to pick your planetarium show wisely. If you’re heading to Bristol and want somewhere that’s educational and fun this is a “go” in my books. There is a dedicated car park run by the organisation so parking is not a headache. There are also restaurants within the premises that cover your food choices
