A bit of a challenage going up steps, wind, sun and stunning views from the top and a relaxing walk down other side. Slight detour to the bird viewing area (rats too!) And then a slow stroll back to the start. A batista ideally positioned finishes off a lovely walk.
Tonight me and Star had a lovely walk at Weetslade Country Park. We had a great time exploring the country park, especially seeing the Drill heads. Lovely views throughout too. We struggled finding the trail poles but found a few along the way. Really nice to have somewhere protecting the wildlife too of a type of bird that is slowly dying out called the Skylark.
Weetslade Country Park is a great spot for a walk, offering a mix of open fields, woodlands, and gentle hills with lovely views over the surrounding countryside. The paths are well-maintained, making it an easy and enjoyable walk for all fitness levels. The climb to the top of the former colliery spoil heap is short but rewarding, with a panoramic view of Newcastle and beyond. It’s a peaceful place, not as busy as some other parks, which makes it perfect for a relaxing stroll. There’s plenty of wildlife around, especially birds, and the different trails mean you can switch up your route each time you visit. The best part? The dog absolutely loved it! Lots of open space to explore, interesting scents everywhere, and plenty of friendly dogs to meet. Definitely a great spot for a walk, whether you’re looking for a short stroll or a longer wander.
Nice place for a walk and great views. Multiple walk paths. Can take 15 mins or 3 hours. Walk dog, bike, horse, kids, wheelchair friendly. Benches along the path up hill to the art installation, with great views at the benches and the top. Not too far from flight path so it's great for watching planes coming in to land too. Also a bird hide, and planty of fruit trees along main wagon way path. It's actually a great little nature park for everyone to enjoy.
Lovely place for a walk! Lovely views all around and our dog had a great walk with us. Very disabled friendly (proper path the whole way through the main walk) ideal for wheelchairs/mobility scooters. Some great picnic spots dotted around. There is a small free car park and plenty of bins. Very impressed we saw no litter! Would come here again for a walk for sure.
