Busy visitor centre! Very popular area and aside from the hills and slopes, safe for all. Bicycle trails are different to the walking trails and there are running loops too. Great café too and a large amount of parking!

Probably better in the Summer as most facilities close during Winter. Bike hire is well priced at £39 a day, but again better value during Summer. Ears pop driving up the mountain to the visitor centre giving some idea of the altitude. There are short medium and long trails including views over Derwent water and Bassenthwaite lakes. The density of cedars pines and spruce trees is quite magnificent. We didn't see any red squirrels at Whinlatter although there are lots there but we did see one at Aira Force near Ullswater.

If you want to see red squirrels the hide is the place to visit here! Some lovely trails to follow which are well marked....the views are stunning! If you are a regular visitor it's worth joining Forestry England for free parking!

Had a great morning at Whinlatter Forest, the trails are really well marked and easy to follow. The lady at the information centre was super helpful, I asked for a recommendation between the different trails I was interested in and she explained it to me in detail. Worth a visit!
