Oh my gosh, what a place!! Having a mobility disability, I was a bit concerned about how I would make it around the 600 acre site without using a scooter (I don't mind using them, but would rather not). Then I saw you can take your car into the zoo! And even better, you don't need to pay an extra charge to take your car in if you have a blue badge. The roads in the zoo are tarmacked. There are loads of parking spots around the zoo and lots of people take their cars in, so it's not like there's only 1 or 2 cars. You can comfortably drive between each region of the zoo and jump in and out of your car as you need. There is a beautiful picnic spot near the top of the zoo (top according to the map). I believe it's highlighted as a viewpoint. There are toilets dotted around as well as pop up cafes selling coffees and ice-cream. Even with the car, as didn't get all the way around. We arrived around 11:30 and left at 17:30! The animals are amazing. Their enclosures are large and seem to be well equipped. The animals look very well looked after too. The have little Mara's freely roaming the park, and the are super cute....although, not as cute as the baby warty pigs 🥰🥰🥰 Definitely worth a visit and don't be outtoff by the size, you can make your way around at your own pace in the comfort of your own car or pre-book one of the zoo's electric scooters.

My wife and I booked an overnight stay in the Lookout Lodge area for our anniversary, arriving on Friday and staying over until Saturday. The package included welcome drinks, dinner, breakfast and three tours outside of normal opening times. Two on the first day, after closing, and one in the morning before it opened so we got to see the animals in a different setting to when there are loads of visitors. I can't praise the keepers (Laura, Maddie and Sydney - hope I spelt those right ladies), who looked after us and took us on the tours, highly enough. They were very friendly, engaging and very knowledgable (We didn't know you could train a Rhino to raise it's leg for a blood test etc.) and the food was excellent. Although we were there for nearly two days we didn't get to see it all. It's clear it's a conservation centre more than a zoo and the animals get very large enclosures so patience is a must, but hang around a bit and you will see them. The bird display was brilliant and we had a very nice chat with Gary when he took us around on the free bus. All the staff we spoke to were also very friendly. It was amazing also, to see loads of Wallabys roaming around free. They really came out after the main crowd had gone. All in all a brilliant experience, which was excellent value for money, which we will do again.

A fantastic wildlife park. Incredibly spacious and the animals looked really happy and well looked after. We were a bit shocked by the price to enter via car, £30, but the location is huge and the price lets you drive all around the campus which is great. A pleasant surprise and worth the cost in the end. Great places to picnic as well all throughout the campus.

Had an amazing day at Whipsnade Zoo! One of the best things about it is how much space the animals have compared to many other zoos. The large enclosures make it feel much more natural and it's great to see the animals with plenty of room to roam. The zoo itself is huge, beautifully maintained and surrounded by stunning countryside. There is so much to explore that you can easily spend the whole day there. A perfect day out for animal lovers, families or anyone looking to enjoy nature. Definitely worth a visit!

Whipsnade really does live up to being the largest zoo in the UK! A brilliant day out. We started off with the train ride which took us round an entire section of the zoo. First train was at 11.30 and plenty of spaces available. Wherever you walk around the zoo its full of nature. The views are wonderful and all the animals have so much space. Given the extremely hot temperatures we weren't surprised that some of the animals were hiding but what we did see was brilliant. There's definitely more we could have seen and will go back another time for what we've missed. Be prepared for a lot of walking but there are other options to bring your car in or take the bus around. We chose to park in the external car park which was free and easily accessible. Being able to purchase discounted tickets, overall all this was brilliant value for a family day out 🐘
