Explore Ellesmere Port's award-winning green space with playgrounds, sports facilities, skate park, and natural habitats suitable for families of all ages.

Whitby Park is Ellesmere Port's premier green space, awarded prestigious Green Flag status for being a safe, welcoming and well-maintained park. The park offers diverse recreational opportunities across its extensive grounds, making it an ideal destination for family days out. Families can enjoy a dedicated play area with stimulating equipment for children up to 12 years old, complemented by an accessible circular route suitable for buggies and wheelchairs. The park features two climbing boulders for developing basic climbing skills and a large Parkour training facility—the first of its size outside London—both free to use. For young people, the Wheels Park facility caters to BMX riders, skateboarders, and inline skaters with half pipes, quarter pipes, walls, and grind banks. Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the multi-use games court for football, basketball, netball and hockey, free tennis courts (April to October, first come first served), bowling greens for casual play and competitions, and football pitches available for hire. Nature lovers can explore three dedicated native flora and fauna areas including a main pond with fishing, grassland habitat, and woodland, plus the Field of Hope with spring daffodil displays. Whitby Hall Café provides refreshments, and the park welcomes dogs throughout most areas while hosting regular community events year-round.

There is a lovely pond where you can feed the ducks, there are lots of open green areas, there is a play park for children, tennis courts, a community allotment, a theatre with a cafe, a small amphitheater (but shows are rare), a court for football and basketball, a large parking area, and a Skate Park/BMX Park.

I had such a nice time at Whitby Park. It’s a lovely, peaceful place that feels really welcoming from the moment you arrive. I spent some time walking around and just taking it all in — the open green spaces, the friendly atmosphere, and the quiet beauty of the park. The playground was full of happy kids, and it made the whole park feel so lively and cheerful. I also loved how dog-friendly it was; it felt like everyone was enjoying themselves, whether they were out for a walk or playing with their pets.

A great place for little mischief makers. There is enough space and climbing frames for children up to 10 years old. The only thing that sometimes I don't like is that dogs and people who smoke are brought inside. There is also no toilet where the children can go when they need it, they have to do it behind the bushes. Also inside the park there are 2 soccer fields, 2 tennis courts, a basketball court, skateboard ramps and a marsh that has different types of birds that live there.
