Visit websiteWhitlingham Country Park is a beautiful, peaceful place to go for a walk, with the full route around the lake being roughly 5km (about 3 miles). It can get quite busy, particularly in good weather, but the park is large enough that you can still spread out and enjoy some peace and quiet. There’s lots of wildlife to see along the way, and it’s a really nice place to slow down and enjoy being outdoors. There’s also a café on site, which we visited and really enjoyed. They have a good variety of hot and cold drinks, cakes and bakes, pasties and other food, with both indoor and outdoor seating. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. During our summer visit there was also a little stand selling soft drinks and Mr Whippy ice creams, which were very nice. You can also hire nature trail maps from the little shop, which is a nice touch if you want to explore the park and learn more about the wildlife and surroundings. The only thing to be aware of is parking. There is paid parking on site, as well as plenty of free parking around the surrounding areas, but it can sometimes be tricky to find a space. Much of the roadside parking is parallel parking and there are lots of double yellow lines, so it’s worth paying attention to the restrictions. That said, there’s plenty of parking overall and you should be able to find somewhere with a little patience. Overall, I’d definitely recommend. It’s a lovely local spot for a walk, a bit of wildlife watching, or simply getting some fresh air and enjoying the surroundings. I’ll definitely be back!
Great spot for a walk, lovely place with a cafe on site, decent amount of parking and if you can find a spot on the road leading up you can get a free space assuming you don't mind a short walk Lots of wildlife, little bird hut in the middle and I think lots of water activities which I have never done myself Solid for a picnic or stroll and dogs can be taken too with areas they must be on a lead etc Very nice considering it's right near the city centre too!
Never been before and was surprised at how beautiful it is. Lots of different paths for different length walk, the flint barn cafe is a lovely place to stop for refreshments. There are several different car parks, make sure you have some change for pay and display. Toilet on site near the Cafe.
Just visited the woodland walk with play area. The car park is located down a single track road with several ramps/sleeping policemen. Our 2 older kids loved this play structure (aged 7 & 9). Our 4 year old enjoyed trying but it was a bit too big! This was the only thing for the play area but we also enjoyed exploring some of the woodland walk - was lovely to be in the shaded area when it was so hot! You need to download the app to pay for parking.
Beautiful place to go for a walk with the dog. Fab sausage roll and coffee after a good walk. Staff fantastic as always even when they are busy still happy and smiley
