Whitmoor is a great place for dog walking, birdwatching and in fact just a leisurely stroll (followed by a pint at the pub). The main car park is on Salt Box Road, but this often gets full. An alternative car park in St Mary’s Church on the Worplesdon Road. This is very rarely busy (except during church services). You have to simply walk through the graveyard and the path is at the far end. A third car park is available, next door to the Jolly Farmer pub on the Burdenshott Road. There is a dedicated car park alongside the pub car park. If you walk around the perimeter, it is 5 to 6 km. There is only one hill, Jordan Hill at the most northerly part of the common. When it is wet, it is tricky to get from the south end of the common (Salt Box Road end) to the north end(Jolly Farmer) without either boots or full wellingtons. I have found the driest route during very heavy rain is at the far east of the common, just keep the railway line on your right hand side as you travel north. Having said that the whole of the south end of the common is normally very dry even on the wettest of days. If you carry on in an easterly direction from Salt Box Road car park you can cross the railway bridge and go onto a separate bit of the common. The main paths here are always dry.

A beautiful nature reserve, this place has a small river flowing through it. Some parts of it are wetlands with wooden footbridges built over it, so you get to walk through them effortlessly. It's a small place, could be covered in under an hour. There's a map at the entrance gate that can guide you with the walking routes.

I love walking here, it’s beautiful and occasionally you seeing the Kites flying above you. Highly recommend wellies as it can get very wet and boggy after bad weather. Dog friendly and great for running too as there are lots of different paths you can take - just really wish the car park was bigger as, when busy, parking can be a pain!!

So many walks. Took my son cycling. There isn't always a clear path but children love the exploring. There is many routes that you can try. We will be trying out different routes.
