Although it was being revamped when we visited, there was lots to look at and see. Very enthusiastic volunteers had a plethora of knowledge.

I visited on Saturday 10th of June (tourist from London). The museum is smaller than I expected but it has a lot of useful information about the town. There is a lot of history mentioned, what I found interesting was the great fire of 1869, and the time line of the Whitstable to Canterbury Railway. The special exhibition was mainly about Peter Cushing, and there was a part dedicated to English King's and Queens with an updated section about the coronation of King Charles III. This museum is suitable for everyone, there is a small garden which is nice to be in on a warm day. Entry fee is very small for tourists (£3). I would recommend exploring for about an hour or longer if you were to visit.

Lovely museum. I went to see the Rail 200 exhibition about the Crab & Winkle line from Whitstable to Canterbury in 1830. But it has a lot more interesting artefacts and information about things like oysters, fishing, Peter Cushing etc and definitely worth a visit.

The museum should be your first stop if/when you visit Whitstable. You will be able to appreciate everything you'll see in town after seeing all that this place has to show you: the history of the harbour, the shipbuilding, the Invictus, the Oyster, deep-sea diving, regatta, the community and some of its celebrity residents who have passed away. And to top it off, the museum has staff who are happy to provide answers to any questions you might have.
