A lovely nature reserve to chill in. We parked at the Welham Road entrance which has very limited parking, although there is street parking on the approach. Lots of narrow winding paths through woodland leading to various flashes and the canal too.... unfortunately there is a massive Himalayan Balsam problem, large areas being swamped by the invasive plant.

Excellent place to walk, especially with a dog. And if it's like our golden retriever, they will love all the water! There's a nice path next to the canal and reasonably clean paths on the forested area, not too boggy even with rain. Lots of ducks and swans.

Awesome having this place so close to Wigan. So many different routes to do, can walk for miles, great with a pair of bins and dog by your side. Plenty to see, very relaxing setting considering it’s on doorstep of Wigan! Highly recommend if in the area

Lovely walk, one of our regulars. Loads of space for dogs to run around safely off lead. Well kept, lots of bins for dog poo, paths all around the woodland and along the canal. Lots of swans and ducks. Please feed them seeds or feed specifically for them instead of bread.... It's really not good for them😩 Really beautiful views across the water.

Beautiful. Such an amazing place with lakes, canals, woodlands and very peaceful. Ideal for families, cyclists, dog walkers, wheelchair and pram friendly footpaths.
