Visited Virginia Water on Saturday. The park is vast and connects directly to Windsor Great Park. If you’re up for a long walk, you can even make your way to Windsor Castle. The park features a large lake, beautiful gardens, a waterfall, and several cafés. It’s run by the Crown Estate rather than the local council, and the prices at the main café near the car park are very reasonable. Highly recommended.

Windsor Great Park is a beautiful and expansive royal park right next to Windsor Castle, offering miles of open grassland, ancient trees, and peaceful woodland trails. It’s famous for the Long Walk, a straight avenue lined with trees that stretches up to the castle, and it’s home to herds of deer that roam freely across the grounds. The park also includes the impressive Savill Garden and nearby Virginia Water lake, both of which are well worth exploring if you want a bit more structure to your visit. It’s a great spot for walking, cycling, picnics, or just getting some fresh air without feeling too crowded most of the time. Facilities are fairly basic, so bring what you need, and note that parking can fill up quickly on busy days and weekends. Overall, it’s a lovely, open space with a proper countryside feel, perfect for a relaxed day out in the Berkshire area.

It cost us £16.00 to park here for 4 hours +, this fee is unavoidable really as it would take you this long to get around it. We went here on a chilly day in March and it did us the world of good. The park was very clean and well kept and the pathways were wheelchair friendly. I especially liked the waterfall as that was unexpected. We all enjoyed the peace and tranquility that this space offered 🌿
