The New River starts it's path to the reservoir here from the river Lea near Ware in Hertfordshire. These videos show the origin in Ware and the end here where the water flows into the reservoir.

This is a lovely establishment for a leisurely walk or a jog. Benches are thoughtfully placed facing the river, offering a pleasant view. However, please be aware that cyclists also utilize this route, which could pose a slight safety concern, particularly if you are accompanied by small children.

Fantastic use of the reservoir and wetlands and ideal for walks and runs. There is a cafe in the middle of the wetland walk, but be aware the path does not cover the circumference of the reservoir due to its original design.

Woodberry Down Park is a small but beautifully designed linear park in north Hackney, bordering Haringey. Though compact, it offers a refreshing mix of high-quality landscaping and a natural riverside feel. The park sits between the New River and the West Reservoir, making it an ideal spot for a calm walk or a quiet sit-down with a view of the water. Some parts are currently closed off for renovation until January 2026, but there’s still enough open space to enjoy a leisurely stroll.

Great views of the lake. Very good location. Walking distance to the Manor House tube station. Awesome view of the London skyline. Great pace to live and a nice neighbourhood with plenty of shops and parks around.
