Beautiful country park it's great place for a nature walk Earlier today (02/04/2026) we came across a cat in the woodgate country park area wearing a collar with the name “Mayble”. There was also a mobile number on the collar, but unfortunately the last digit was missing so we couldn’t call. She didn’t let us get too close and ran off into the bushes, so we lost sight of her. Not sure if she’s just an outdoor cat or if someone might be looking for her, but thought it’s worth posting just in case. There a few pictures of Mayble attached here. If anyone knows Mayble or her owner, please let them know she was seen nearby.

Lovely Park, loads of wooded areas to walk through. The only negative is a lack of refreshments for such a huge park.

A short walk from the large car park and you'll find this charming little farm. Only £2 entrance fee and 50p for anilmal feed. Very helpful staff, especially with regards to children with additional needs. Chicken and duck eggs can be bought here. There's plenty of trails for walkers if you don't visit the farm, and a small playground for children.

Overall, it's a quaint and nice country park for walking and cycling. As is visible in the photos, there is a lush field area with horses, followed by a split path through a more densely wooded set of trails. It was a short but pleasant walk. Unfortunately the visitors centre seems to be temporarily closed when I visited. The trails are quite short, so it is more of a nice area for walking pets or light activity. Therefore, it's much less suitable for hiking and more intense trail enthusiasts. To summarise (despite the lack of the visitor centre), it was a short but enjoyable walk with some nice aesthetic points that kept me busy for a few hours. It's definitely worth a visit if it's a nice day and you're local to the area, but probably not worth travelling vast distances to experience.

We adore it here with my little one (18 months). The farm is only £2 to enter with lots of lovely animals to see and feed if you want to, food for them just 50p a bag. If you don't fancy the farm the walk down and along the stream is lovely and flat so ideal for any age (there is a slight incline returning to the car park but is very scenic so can amble along). Play area for littles is also lovely.
