Lovely outdoor pool for an early morning swim

I recently discovered this pool has one of what must be the last remaining outdoor diving boards in the UK and as a diver, was keen to give it a go in today's sunshine. However, trying to work out when and how to book was no easy feat. Google said the pool was closed. Better's website said it was open. But it made no mention of if one could dive. So I rang the general phone number and was informed it was open and hoped for the best. Upon arrival, I found the manager on reception, who said that whilst the diving board wasn't open, that he could open it for me by sectioning off part of the pool and asking another lifeguard to go on duty. This was much appreciated as I have no interest in swimming - just diving! He and the rest of the staff were great, as was the feel of the lovely, slightly retro, community pool. I, and the kids that joined me in diving had a whale of a time. I just wish there were more pools with boards across the country. 4 stars as I loved the experience but the booking isn't clear.

We visitied today and i was so hapoy woth the staff who went above and beyond to support nephew with additional needs. I would Highly reccomend this pool was calm, clean and accommodating, what more can you ask for. Big thanks to Elaine imparticular.

Visiting from wales looking after our grandchildren in bicester Visited this pool this morning for the first time ( on the hottest day off the year so far) Quite sad to see such poor reviews Easy online booking Pool not too crowded Bin there for all rubbish so I excuse for any mess. Cafe open which we hadn’t expected- coffees for us adults, snacks and ice creams also available - really nice to sit by pool after our swim and not feel as if we had to go once our allocated hour swim had finished. The cafe is closed on Mondays. I thought there was a lovely atmosphere there There were a few staff/ lifeguards by the pool. They were chatting as they obviously know each other but they were very friendly and also there was always 1 or 2 watching the swimmers Not sure why I only gave 4 stars

Cafe was great and let down by swimming pool staff and operations. Such a shame. Echo previous reviewers comments from 2022 about poor cleanliness in changing rooms and toilets. Lifeguards chatting away. Diving board only open for 15 mins per hour during "Swim for all". Apparently can't have floats in the pool and diving boards at the same time. All the kids want to do both but can't because of "the rules". I get it's a community pool but it doesn't need 3 staff to sit around the pool either on life guard duty or doing nothing useful.
