Fantastic butterfly zoo! Just perfect and affordable too. We loved it. Lots to spot and a lot to learn too. Educational but fun and interesting. Beautiful butterflies flying around you, might sit on you too! Benches in places so you can sit and watch them ... they're so playful with each other too. You get a magnifying glass and some info sheets with facts too. Great! You can watch them hatch too so you learn about the whole process with chrysalis etc highly recommend! - paid car park - good facilities - maze currently being replanted ( 2026) - mini and crazy golf options indoor and out ( additional) - close to river Wye - good pub nearby - only minutes away from Ross-on-Wye and close to Monmouth

Absolutely gorgeous. All the butterflies looked healthy with plenty of space. Information was given to you on cards so it makes identifying each one much easier. Was very warm inside which, being a tropical butterfly house, is expected. Only teeny tiny criticism I have is all the benches were soaking wet. I couldn't sit and admire the little beauties. Highly recommend a visit.

Filled to the brim with so many beautiful butterflies! It was also fascinating to see them at every stage of life, from eggs, caterpillars, pupa and finally the butterflies! Very reasonably priced and plenty of useful information. You also get given a sheet to identify all of the butterflies and a magnifying glass to get a closer look.

Stumbled upon this place and decided to go in. It was great! Reasonable priced too. It's inside a green house in effect and gets very warm. Water is dripping out of roof sprinklers onto you all the time so be prepared to get a little wet or dress appropriately. No food or drinks allowed inside so go in already hydrated. Also not many seats. Highly recommend though. Butterflies are flying all around and may land on you. Beautiful. X

We have visited the Butterfly Zoo as a family a couple of times now, and it’s always a hit. our daughter was absolutely fascinated! While there are definitely more butterflies active during the summer, we had a great experience both times. The zoo isn't huge, but it is incredibly well-organized. At the entrance, you're provided with a magnifying loupe and an informative species sheet, which makes spotting and identifying the butterflies a fun game for the kids. A few tips for your visit: * Preparation: Before entering, you watch a short video on what to expect and how to behave so the butterflies stay safe and don't "hitchhike" out with you. * The Heat: It is very warm and humid inside! Thankfully, they provide baskets at the start to store your coats and bags so you don't overheat. * Interaction: Just remember to be very gentle if one lands on you. * Hygiene: Don't forget to wash your hands at the station provided on your way out. It’s a wonderful way to see the entire life cycle in a beautiful, well-maintained setting. The surrounding area is also lovely for a stroll afterwards!
