About this event
Lowther Castle & Gardens will be transformed into a breathtaking illuminated wonderland for Lights of Lowther, a winter light trail through the gothic castle ruins and gardens, with light, music and festivities for visitors of all ages.
What to expect:
- Selected evenings 14 Nov to 30 Dec 2026, mostly Fri-Sun, plus extra evenings before Christmas and 27-30 Dec
- Timed entry every half hour from 4pm, last entry 8pm; most people take around an hour
- Trail starts in the lit castle ruins, then gardens, installations and a finale view from the lawns
- Mulled wine, hot chocolate and marshmallow toasting over a fire pit along the way
- Pre-booked only. Adult £20, Child (under 16) £15, Family £65
- Children under 3 go free and do not need a ticket. Three year olds need a child ticket.
- Wrap up warm; flat, comfortable footwear is essential
- Step-free route; a baby carrier is recommended over a pushchair. Dogs welcome. Free parking
