Great experience in a old school train, ask what actually happens as saw negative reviews which looks like people solidny actually know how this place works.

What a lovely afternoon ride we had..Mums 90th..Staff were amazing, nothing too much trouble. Allowed us to bring our own cake and put flower arrangements on the tables. Made a fuss of mum..Plenty of refills of tea. Apart from train staff, the station staff were lovely too. And so professional. All in all, a great time..Well worth the money considering how much it must cost to keep this running. Keep up the good work. And as Arnold Swartzanegger said...."I'll be back".....

Avon Valley Railway lies between Bath and Bristol and up until the 1960s it was still operated by steam Railway although I could be wrong it it was steam operated, from Bath Green Park to Bristol the line had its own station in Bristol and also ran a service to Birmingham It now forms part of the Bath to Bristol Railway Footpath What I found is walking from Bath, initially you walk along the River Avon path, the Kennet and Avon Canal from Reading finishes in Bath and becomes the River Avon, open to barges, but no footpath unfortunately After about a mile from Bath Railway station or Bus Station you leave the River Avon, and then take road on your right , footpath is clearly signposted Walk is around 15 miles including the section from Bath Bus Station If you go on YouTube , follow " Swift Trails" to see the whole path he actually does long distance running videos including Bath to Bristol railway Path I walked as far as Staple Hill Tunnel and then walked upto the main road and caught First Bus , service X49 down to.the City Centre It does get complicated IMHO if you are trying to reach Bristol Temple Meads Station hence why I started in Bath

Not the experience we were expecting. Aware that this is run by enthusiasts but we spent more time waiting on the train than travelling it! Our 'trip' took us 7 minutes in 1 direction with a long wait for train to change ends..then another stop where we started, followed by travelling 10 mins in the opposite direction waiting another 15 mins for the train to change again. The coaches inside were cold & inside windows & frames...dirty. A good clean inside would be helpful. Sadly our coffee @ cafe wasnt much better. We just about kept our young grandsons 3 & 7 intrested.

A great day for a family or solo. I loved my time on the train and looking around the station. Lovely trains, so well restored abd cared for.
