Visited today using the kids go free offer which made it such amazing value! It was very quiet but it was a weekday in term time. I specifically went because I wanted to see the prefab and the police box (huge doctor who fan!). The prefab was amazing, I absolutely love prefabs and this was a beautiful example. There were costumes staff who were lovely and we had a nice chat about the prefab and rationing. I could have stayed in it all day but my kids were keen to explore more. The telephone box museum was a bit disappointing. We were not allowed to explore it freely, im not sure why. A member of staff told us which ones we could use, then proceeded to give us conflicting instructions on who should be calling who and then being quite condescending when telling us "these arent mobile phones, you have to do ...........(various instructions). Yes, I may look young but im 44 and have used the majority of the phone boxes there over the course of my life, as well as knowing how to use ones manufactured before I was born! He told us some needed phone cards or certain money, but he wasnt going to get those items out for us. He told my daughter off for "opening a door too far" when she was simply copying exactly what he had done. It did ruin the experience for us to be honest. Im sure he was trying to be helpful but we really felt unwelcome in that area. Other reviews mention using the cards and money and being able to use the area freely so perhaps he just dodnt like the kids using the stuff? My kids know how to use all these things and were excited to visit as they have a similar set up at Milton Keynes museum which the kids loved and were hoping for a similar experience. Apart from the phone area the rest was great. Staff were helpful and friendly. The fairground area wasnt open which was a bit disappointing. Cafe was nice, good tea cakes and sausage rolls. Scone was a bit dry but fine. Ive been wanting to visit avoncroft for years as im a huge fan of living history museums, and overall the experience was great, just wasnt impressed with the phone box area.

Beautiful place. Full of history. They got a lot of old phone still working. My favourite is the cottage.

Sunday visit with medieval event. Took our 2.1/2 yr old granddaughter. What a lovely few hours, the weather stayed good which helps. So many buildings to explore, we enjoyed a chat with the guide by the telephone box collection. The windmill was a special favourite, another lovely guide on that too. Had a bite to eat and drink in the cafe, superb food, great service and no delays, top marks here for us. The whole site is so interesting and pleasant. A picnic in the meadows would be nice. We liked the pre-fab house and the lady inside. The miniature train ride at £1 per person was lovely, again the guides so friendly. Bought a few plants. Came here many many years ago but there’s so much more here now. Good sized car park. Really enjoyed our visit and found all volunteers/staff so friendly and warm. We will be back. We bought out tickets online and saved about 10%.

Had a wonderful time with my border terrier rescue dog yesterday. Loved it so much we got a season pass.. he loved the stables best of all. My particular favourite was the showmans caravan and the windmill. Can't wait to visit again. Thank you so much

I've taken my kids to Avoncroft several times over the years. Every time we visit, we end up spending a good few hours there and just immerse ourselves in the relaxing atmosphere. Each building in itself is fascinating, particularly delightful is the cafe! We tend to finish the day of by playing in the telephone exchange and learning about the old systems. There's plenty of free parking and it's easy to find using satnav.
