Nice castle to visit for an hour maximum! I find the entrance price a bit high for the amount of things too see, but the complex is well maintained and in good condition. The views from the top are great, better and more exciting than initially though! There is a small museum attached to the entrance fee too.

It’s well worth a visit to this partially ruined castle. Stunning views from the very top and lots to explore. Children will love it. There is also a national trust shop and also parking close by with parking meters.

Lovely little castle. Nice views from the top. It's nice to take a picnic and blanket in summer. There's a little memorial garden nearby, St Peters Church (oldest Church in South Yorkshire) and a viaduct.

We thought that this was actually pretty good. Whilst it is essentially a castle ruin site, there is still plenty to see and explore. And it seems to be a fairly popular spot with the local for picnics etc. For those who wish, you can climb up into the tower (watching some information spots on each floor) and obtain a good view of the surrounds, from the top.

Well worth a visit, great history with information displayed in an easily digestible way. Activities for kids. Great views over the surrounding village and landscape. Gift shop with coffee. Include the viaduct for a great circular walk.
