Enjoy a Blue Flag beach with warm, shallow waters ideal for swimming and bathing, divided by a historic medieval castle.

Criccieth Beach is a distinctive Blue Flag beach located on the Llŷn Peninsula in Gwynedd, North Wales. The beach features a unique crescent of shingle and sand that is split by the imposing ruins of medieval Criccieth Castle, creating two distinct beach areas for visitors to explore. The shallow and warmer waters make Criccieth Beach particularly popular with swimmers and bathers of all ages, making it an excellent choice for families seeking a safe swimming destination. The predominantly pebbly beach offers a more rugged coastal experience compared to other sandy beaches on the peninsula. Visitors will find convenient access to town centre facilities and shops within close proximity. The beach welcomes dogs during winter months, with restricted access during summer. A slipway provides easy access for those with power boats. The nearby Criccieth Castle offers additional historical interest, allowing families to combine beach time with cultural exploration of this medieval landmark.

The part of the beach closest to the castle does not permit dogs May-September but the long part of the beach from Dylan’s out to Black Rock is dog friendly. So much space. Lovely to walk dogs and plenty of parking on the Esplanade.

Beautiful beach situated very near to Criccieth main town. Steep, large steps down to the beach itself, so not disabled accessible. I didn't check the other end nearer to the houses though. Lots of parking. Seating areas and a good walk way above the beach that's dog friendly. Lovely sand and great pebble areas . Fabulous view of the castle. Family friendly. Recommended. Great parking. Free for disabled cars. Accesible amenities. A lovely restaurant right next to the beach

Really nice beach. It's very stoney, but nice to walk up and down and you can park on the roadside right next to it. Lovely area to visit.

We visited on a windy day in late summer just after heavy rain had cleared. Great place for a walk but main beach is not dog friendly during the summer. Large carpark nearby and free toilets

Very scenic with some rocky areas and some sandy areas. There is not much space here compared to some beaches in the area such as Barmouth beach, but the scenery at Cricceith beach is arguably better. It's a stunning place.
