The David Livingstone Birthplace Museum is fascinating as it showcased the home of the Livingstone family, artefacts from Africa, his journals, and many other priceless items that are very well-kept by museum volunteers. You can read more about him in the "Museum Guide" written by Dr.Mike Carroll, assisted by an editorial team and photographer, Alan Gardiner.I bought a few copies from the gift shop, and had them autographed by Dr Carroll. It was a pleasure to meet him on the Wednesday that I visited. All the staff at the centre (including Margaret at the gift shop) were lovely. I must add that the food at the cafe was great too. I had the sweet chillie chicken toastie for lunch ;)

Great place to visit - excellent information and exhibits and extremely helpful staff. Clearly, they are all proud of the museum and rightly so. I couldn’t give it five stars as we could only arrive at 2.45 due to other commitments and when we had finished our tour the shop and cafe were closed. It seems unusual and unhelpful that your cafe and shop close before the museum. Very sad.

Didn't go inside the building so just visited the grounds. What a beautiful place for a dog walk! There are a couple of small car parks, a small playpark perfect for younger kids right in front of the buildings. We walked though the wildflower gardens - where there were lots of butterflies - down to the river. Walked along the river bank which is stunningly beautiful. Dogs welcome but must be on lead.
