I was pushed back by a member of your staff at the entrance to the field. I dislike assuming racism, so I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt. However, the way I was treated left me feeling singled out and deeply uncomfortable. The second game had just ended after the marshal called time, so I quickly stepped out to clean my headgear. As I was returning, I was met with a forceful push to my chest by an older member of staff, who told me the game was over. What confused me was that other players were still firing their remaining paintballs at the headshot practice area. I had also purchased two extra bags of paintballs, expecting there would be a third game, so I naturally assumed I could use some of them there as well. I calmly told him that he could simply have informed me verbally or gestured for me to stop instead of pushing me. Once we were outside, he then told his colleague that my headgear had not been properly worn. This was not the reason he initially gave when he pushed me. By that point, my headgear was already off because I was no longer on the field. The situation then escalated into him shouting at me and calling me names, which was completely unnecessary and unprofessional. The entire encounter ruined the experience for me and my friends. We came as a group of ten, and apart from this individual, the younger members of your staff were friendly, professional, and welcoming throughout the day. This same older staff member had also caused an issue when we first arrived. We had one additional person with our group who wanted to pay on arrival. He bluntly refused, saying he would not accept any more players and even claimed he owned the place. I then called the number I had originally used to make the booking, and the payment for our extra player was accepted immediately without any hesitation, making his refusal even more confusing. Later, during the disagreement, he threatened to call the police and have our entire group removed from the premises. I believe CCTV footage and statements from the other staff members will verify exactly what happened. To make matters worse, after spending a significant amount of money including purchasing extra paintballs we had not originally planned to buy as we weren’t informed while booking and asking for quotes. We noticed that another group was provided with disposable tissues to clean their goggles when they became blurred, while our group was never offered the same courtesy. Overall, this was a very disappointing and upsetting experience. We came expecting an enjoyable day, but one staff member’s behaviour overshadowed the entire visit. I hope you will investigate this incident by reviewing the CCTV footage and speaking with the staff on duty, as no customer should be treated in this manner.
