Visit websiteWe visited Dr Beynon’s Bug Farm as a family and overall it was a fantastic and genuinely unique experience. It is unlike any other attraction we have visited, with fascinating insect displays, knowledgeable staff and a real passion for nature, sustainability and education. The children loved seeing the bugs up close, and the whole place has a really special atmosphere. We loved Jenny’s insect interviews & Sarah’s passion and drive were obvious from her educational talk and walk around the farm. We would need another visit to absorb all the wonderful educational displays on the bug trail. Another highlight for us was trying the bug burgers in Grub Kitchen – a very memorable experience and something we all enjoyed. Our only reservation was the overall cost. The entrance fee already represents a significant spend for a family, and we felt that having to pay an additional charge for the insect handling experience made the visit quite expensive, especially for a family of six. The handling session would have felt better value if this had been included in the admission price or if there was a reduced family package. That said, we would still recommend a visit. It is a brilliant, one-of-a-kind attraction run by people who clearly care deeply about what they do. Just be prepared that the extras can add up quickly.
-Fun -Great for adults -10% off tickets if you walk their -Lovely gifts shop -Art for purchase, some lovely prints -Quirky cafe and they only use oat milk in hot drinks -Fairtrade tea options
Love this place a lot. Its been set up with some real thought and passion. Myself and my two sons loved every minute of our visit - reading about insects, the history of the farm, and its owners. We also paid for the bug handling which was good form and very informative. Couldn't recommend this place more.
Brilliant dog friendly and educational attraction. Dr Beynon and her team were really helpful and friendly. Food was amazing and reasonably priced. My nature loving daughter really enjoyed the visit and would definitely go again.
What a fantastic day out! We arrived for opening at 10.30 and were surprised to be leaving at 3pm. Attended a hands on talk (extra cost) with Beth and Lou who were really entertaining, informative and knowledgeable. No pressure to handle bugs with all comfort levels catered for. All staff were friendly and enthusiastic. The restaurant was brilliant. A good selection of food with hidden insect protein or if you are feeling more adventurous, whole bugs. Non-insect food also available! The pollinator trail was lovely with a spectacular wildflower meadow and fact hunt for kids. We saw a red kite hunting around us! The museum, bug zoo, nature recovery barn and gallery were all packed with interesting info. We loved learning about the ants and Beth popped out to give us more info. Technology is encouraged with some useful apps signposted to us. Nice play barn area.
