Disappointed in the pier chip shop on the front of pier and pub at back of pier but middle of the pier was empty kiosks with furniture etc just dumped in there ,would be great if the council could help or encourage someone to rent these places out ,even if it was a gift shop selling t shirts magnets rock etc ,I think Eastbourne council our missing a chance to improve this pier, or why not have a candy floss store and doughnuts or fresh fish place cockles shrimp surely this is what piers are all about deckchairs etc .if your not sure take a trip to Clacton pier it’s superb!

Went during Easter break, rated 3 as obviously wasn't as lively as it would have been during better weather. Nice walk along the sea front and stopped at an ice cream place with a great variety of flavours.

Traditional British Seaside but now - up and coming with lot's of younger people moving to the area. A huge selection of great bars, restaurants, Theatres. Plenty of quirky new venues for a great visit. The popular bandstand is to re-open this summer. Still a way to go but Eastbourne is a changing! Even an outdoor sauna at the wish tower end.

Eastbourne reveals itself as a charming seaside retreat – quiet, clean, and full of gentle elegance. Very typical 'English seaside town', buildings screaming Victorian grandeur of days gone by, now often dilapidated. But still mostly charming. Lots of hotels. The promenade itself however is well-maintained with pretty string lights at night, well-tended flower beds and of course the old pier (relatively recently revamped) has a charm of its old. Pebble / shingle beach is very clean and all in all a lovely place to come for a walk (even on a cold autumn day)
