Interesting early Norman castle, very pleasant on a summer's day, surrounded by green and a watercourse. As well as walls and earthworks, there are remains of internal buildings too. Panels in site give a histir6of the Castke and there is plenty of parking. Locked up out of hours so all very neat and tidy with no residue of illicit activities as can often be the case in ruined castles! Visited July 2026.

Very quiet Norman castle, hiding in the middle of this wonderful village. Quiet with free parking and the opportunity to stroll around, take in the old castle walls and picnic in the old moat. English heritage doing a wonderful job.

Free to enter, free car park. Small, very quiet castle in ruins. Nice for a stop, have a picnic on the grass. Doesn’t take too long to go round, but it is charming in its own way. If you have small children be warned that the River Darent flows along the West boundary of the castle grounds and is surprisingly deep here and initially hidden from view by a bank.

Anyone who likes to combine history with pleasure – that is, in this beautiful place, Eynsford, you can find many monuments, monuments, a 12th-century castle, and many other interesting places, historical monuments, and at the same time a very charming and cozy town. Besides, the nature in this town is breathtaking. I highly recommend it, especially since it's only an hour from London. An ideal day trip.
