Lovely wildlife rescue centre where animals are cared for that were ill conceived, exotic pets kept conditions they were never meant to live in or abused and used as breeding. Gentleshaw ensures that they have somewhere to go to live out the rest of their lives, in safety, being properly cared for. It's a small place and it really does deserve your support.

We had such a lovely day at Gentleshaw Wildlife Centre. All the animals looked so well cared for, and it was really lovely to see so many of them getting a second chance at life and thriving after coming from difficult situations. We especially loved cheeky Teddy the owl—he really made us laugh and was such a character! The free-flying birds were amazing to watch too and made the visit feel really special. You can tell how much care, time and love goes into looking after all the animals here. It’s such a lovely place to visit, with a really positive atmosphere and such important work being done. Hats off to all the volunteers. Would definitely recommend visiting—we had a brilliant day and will definitely be back!🩷

Great place to visit with little ones. The wildlife centre is amazing, the animals are extremely well cared for by the dedicated volunteers who look after them and there’s a wide variety of animals to see. The flying display was probably the highlight for us, the birds were amazing to see and the handlers were great at explaining all about the birds, their natural habitat and the clever things they can do. The garden centre offers a wide variety of things for garden and home and the cafe is also excellent value for money. It really is a great, affordable day out and somewhere my granddaughters can’t wait to go to again.

Fantastic little place. You can see that the staff put their heart and soul into caring for these animals. So many different animals to see and so many different stories to read. Watch the flying display to see some of the residents showing off their skills. Gorgeous place.

What a wonderful day out at Gentleshaw, all of their rescued birds, reptiles and animals are well looked after until they are well enough to go back into the wild. Siren the cockatoo is very chatty and showed off his dancing skills, there are lots to see here from wild birds to reptiles,meerkat,monkeys, ravens, tortoises, emus, pony's, owls,just to name a few. They're is a cafe here and is wheelchair accessible. They have a nice little souvenir shop too so you can take home a little momentum and you can even donate whatever you can afford either in the shop or by joining and donating up to £100 and have your name plate on the donates, displayed within the wild life sanctuary.
