I have visited twice now but I won't be going back to the cafe or petting farm and I won't recommend it to anyone. The petting farm is very disappointing. The area needs a lot of work doing to it. Tidy it up, brighten it up, get more space for the animals. Put more information up about the animals, where they come from, what they like to eat etc. Make sure the name signs aren't half wiped off. I will say the animals are very cramped in tiny pens and seem very unhappy. Too many llamas in a space not big enough even for one for example. No access to outside. The donkeys and goats are in poor condition. Please improve your animal welfare. It's really disappointing. The staff were pleasant and polite, although they seemed a bit overwhelmed but it was busy. The shop is nicely turned out, clean and tidy, with some lovely displays. There is just not a lot of variety. I would like to see a bigger selection of free-from products for example. Hopefully nearer Christmas they will have more luxury items, especially chocolates. I'd love to see a bigger selection of cheese and charcuterie. The staff were really polite and it was lovely to be greeted so kindly by the young woman stood at the door. I also had a nice chat about the locally made ice cream. There was a small issue with scanning items but the manager resolved it quickly and spoke to the young staff member very kindly. Everyone said thank you and goodbye when I left. The cafe is the biggest disappointment overall. The food was very nice with generous portions but the service was abysmal. There was a rather horrid woman shouting and snapping at the young staff members. At one point she admonished a young woman by shouting very rudely over our heads, instead of approaching her and doing it in a less intrusive manner. The staff are all very young and very poorly trained. Manners are lacking, no one said please or thank you. No one checked back to see if we enjoyed our food. I had to ask for the bill 3 times. It was very dirty in there. The cutlery and my glass had finger prints all over them. Tables were left full of dirty dishes and instead of clearing them so more customers could be seated, many of the staff members stood at the counter chatting. Our coffees were very disappointing. Burnt, foamy milk and mine was full of coffee grounds. Our order also sat on the counter for quite a while before one of the staff members could be bothered to stop chatting and bring it over to us. Such a shame because it could be wonderful.

Overall amazing place, gorgeous animals and very well decorated! We had 1 thing that let us down... we had been given our breakfast and half way through eating this with our mouth filled with food we had a staff member come up to us and make us pay, usually payements should be accepted before or after eating not during and especially when you can see we have our mouth full, hopefully this was a one time mistake and not always like this as i think its just rude interrupting people from the food your giving them. Like i said overall its a nice place and i imagine it can only get better in the futute if more things get added ☺️

Let's look at the plus first, as a children's day out the layout camping all looked excellent but I visited expecting a farm shop with local producers possibly a butchers and fresh veg amongst other things. I like a couple of other reviews felt completely underwhelmed with the selection and general products for sale. I was not going to write a review because this alone are choices gripps have made for their own reasons and it may suit family visitors more. The reason I wrote the review was the coffee, possibly the worst cup I have tasted in 20 years. What tasted like a dark roasted bean and then Under extracted in the machine with the almond milk burnt any one of those issues problematic so the overall taste was absolutely repulsive there's no other words to describe this cup of coffee.

We visited the cafe and shop yesterday, on its first day of opening and were very impressed. A warm welcome. The owners appear to have everything exceedingly well organised. The coffee was good and the Bakewell delicious. It would be great to have some lunch vegan options in the cafe (other than jacket and beans), but I understand that the menu will be extended, The shop is a delight. Full of interesting items and plenty of vegan products (including ready meals) here. The shop and cafe are in an enormous barn. Plenty of space for all. Very impressed!

Cracking spot for the pop up camping, sea view, beach in walking distance and shops and supermarkets, fish and chips shops and a pub all within less than 2 miles. No shower block or electric, so no good it you can't hack real camping, but otherwise full your boots. Absolute bargain.
