It’s beautiful. And so easy to access for a walk and sea swim tide permitting. A cooler spot up there for your picnic or rest before descending to Old Leigh and Chalkwell.

nice excuse for a long walk from Southend (you can cheat and take a train one-way :) not much is left butthe ruins must look very romantic at the sunset. We followed Prittlebrook and returned along the Thames Estuary from Leigh-on-Sea, recommended.

Didn't take pictures as i wasn't "expired enough. There's kind of, nothing left of this castle. Ambience is kind of mystical though. If you sit or lay on the grass and try to travel backwards in the past, you may feel the sensation of being there. It's, weird. But I felt it

Fabulous old castle ruins dating back to the 12th century in very well kept grounds. Lovely peaceful location to enjoy your surroundings. Gives up some good photo opportunities and a great view. Some good information boards on site too, always useful.

Place visited on Sunday afternoon, ideal for relaxing walk with drone on side, full of beautiful views on Thames. Surely will go there in Summer time again, to catch the Sunset.
