Henry Moore Studios & Gardens

Much Hadham, United Kingdom•4.7(1k)•Art Gallery, Country Park, Museum

Explore the world's largest collection of Henry Moore's sculptures, studios, and home set across 70 acres of inspiring gardens and landscape.

Henry Moore Studios & Gardens offers visitors an immersive experience into the life and artistic practice of one of the 20th century's most influential sculptors. The venue preserves Moore's former home, six working studios, and over 70 acres of carefully shaped gardens and rolling fields where his monumental bronze sculptures are displayed as he intended them to be seen within the landscape. The newly reimagined Sheep Field Barn Gallery serves as the heart of the experience, featuring permanent exhibitions and changing displays that explore Moore's career from 1922 to 1986. Key attractions include The Art and Life of Henry Moore exhibition with over eighty sculptures, drawings, and archival materials, as well as a special focus on Moore's powerful Shelter Drawings from 1940-1941. Visitors can tour six preserved studios where Moore worked throughout his lifetime, revealing his diverse artistic processes including drawing, etching, carving, and model making. Beyond the galleries, the experience extends to the Aisled Barn, a reconstructed sixteenth-century farm building that uniquely displays Moore's tapestries, and Hoglands, the Moore family home for nearly fifty years, now showcasing his personal art collection and inspirational objects. Two dedicated learning spaces offer hands-on activities inspired by Moore's experimental approach, making the venue suitable for families with children ages 5 and up, school groups, and serious art enthusiasts.

We had a lovely half day here. The house tour was excellent and well worth the money. Our guide Jeremy had so much knowledge and all imparted in a very friendly way. The grounds are beautiful and the outbuildings dotted around give great insight into Moore’s life. The larger out buildings and studios are gems. The cafe and shop are also lovely with nice food and good coffee!

Glorious day might have increased the experience. Sunny and 21C. Lovely setting, mature trees, sheep and sculptures. Cafe, toilets and 4 studios to explore, modelling, plaster, marble, tapestry. Good selection to absorb over a large estate. Might be expensive but you do get good selection of sculptures.

Beautiful gardens. The tickets are valid for the year so you can always come back here. We got very lucky with the weather but super place for a date or a weekend getaway from London. Alot of amazing works there and the studio spaces are great. There are even sculpting activities for kids.
