Nice place to visit, the area is vast so we only saw about a quarter of it. The visitors centre was great and very informative and the room with Crane wallpaper was beautiful. I especially liked the sensory garden. The tea room was nice.

We noticed Howick Hall on Google maps while searching for Crastor and thought we would give it a visit. Firstly, it is extremely reasonable to enter! Secondly, you get a LOT for your money. You can only view the downstairs of the house, but it is beautifully done and explains how the Greys (of Earl Grey tea) have gone on expeditions to China collecting seed to grow in their arboretum. The cafe is NOT expensive at all and offers a lovely range of food, together with souvenirs, which similarly, are inexpensive and good quality. But the gardens are a delight. You can wander for hours exploring the best grounds. The Silverwood was amazing in May, full of rhododendron in bloom, Cowslips of many colours, amongst so many other plants. I fully recommend a visit and you can take all day to enjoy every corner. Thank you Howick for a fantastic day.

Exceeded all expectations. Friendly reception staff . Well laid out gardens, woodland, easy to navigate the different areas with site map and numbered posts throughout. Visited April, Silverwood area superb, lots in flower. Very interesting and unusual plants and trees,came in handy having an identification app on phone. Although there 3, hours didnt manage to see both arboretums so looking forward to a return visit. Tea rooms good and of course Lady grey tea available along with coffees and cakes etc, very nice.

An excellent discovery well worth visiting. Saw the snow drops and lovely gardens. Plenty to see in the Visitor centre and the Church. Also visited the tea room which was also very good.

We visited in mid September on a rainy day. The house only has a few downstairs rooms open for touring. It is self guided but the rooms all have booklets detailing the items and the paintings. the front of the house is filled with facts regarding the house and the gardens. The chapel was well worth seeking out as it featured hand made kneelers that were designed and stitched by volunteer organizations. Each one was unique and I found them to be quite delightful. There was a map with details of the gardens that we could explore. We walked through a few of them, but most of the blooms had died out by mid September. I imagine that they are magnificent in the spring and summer. If you want to enjoy tea in the tea room you must bring cash.
