What a great place and set up. Someone has taken real time and thought and effort in construction and interior work. Wood panelling throughout really works, nice facilities, tea, coffee, toilets, seating area for observers. The chess area is great and the archery range superb. Great coaching from head coach Kennin the archery my daughter is only 10 but got her shooting so well and was very encouraging to her. When we arrived for her session it was very quiet but other archers joined some very experienced nut were very pleasant friendly and welcoming. My wife and daughter had a great time. It was only let down by when we left our car had been blocked in by a vehicle with some cricketers unloading for stumps downstairs, rather than take one of the many parking spaces decided to leave their people carrier there, doors open whilst one person in cricket kit got out, wouldn’t move and became very aggressive when we asked them to. My daughter wanted to join the archery academy but my wife said she didn’t want to battle parking every time she came. .

This is an amazing facility for both archery and chess. The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable. I took my grandchildren yesterday and they did both activities. It would also be a great place for a group activity. It is situated just outside the centre of Wakefield but easy to find and there is free parking.

An absolutely outstanding facility! Ken is a true gentleman—warm, welcoming, and a genuine pleasure to meet. Thank you for making the experience so enjoyable for both me and my family. The theme and overall atmosphere are beautifully executed, and it’s clear that a great deal of thought, care, and craftsmanship went into creating this place. A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in bringing it all together. I wholeheartedly recommend visiting—you won’t regret it. It was a perfect experience from start to finish. I’ll definitely be holding onto my loyalty card, because I’ll be returning again very soon.

Just had an amazing time at King in the North. Brilliant set up - excellent equipment. Absolutely loved the fantasy theming with all the archer characters on the walls. The coach Ken was friendly with good tips on improving. Definitely will be back to shoot and maybe try the chess area.

This was an absolutely amazing experience and if highly recommend a visit, especially if your into archery OR chess. First visit, came with friends, booked well in advance (booking essential). Located on the top floor, parking outside.Very reasonably priced,£15 per person for archery per hour,£2 per person for chess per hour. Obviously at peak times it does get very busy so as I said, booking essential. We did archery first and after a few minute introduction we were left to it. Afterwards we went through to do the chess. The venue itself is brilliant, perfectly laid out. The staff were helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. We had a great time and well definitely be visiting again.
