Explore a 16th century tower house with Victorian extensions set among beautiful gardens overlooking the Firth of Forth, featuring guided tours and family events.

Lauriston Castle is a historic 16th century tower house with Victorian extensions and early 20th century interiors, set within peaceful gardens offering stunning views across the Firth of Forth. The castle houses an impressive collection of fine furniture, ceramics, and personal belongings bequeathed by its last wealthy residents, the Reids. Visitors can step back in time and escape the bustle of the city while exploring the castle's diverse and fascinating collections, including newspaper reporting the sinking of the Titanic displayed in the sitting room. | The venue offers multiple ways to experience the castle: the gardens are free to enter year-round, while the castle itself is accessible via guided tours that can be booked online. An exciting programme of events runs throughout the year, including talks, creative workshops, film screenings, and family fun activities. In 2026, the castle celebrates the centenary of being left to the nation, with a strong 1920s focus featuring special themed tours, costumed performances, and wellness sessions in nature. | Lauriston Castle is particularly suitable for families, with family drop-in events such as Easter outdoor fun activities, and the pushchair-friendly grounds making it accessible for visitors with young children. The venue combines historical exploration with creative workshops and outdoor experiences, offering something for all ages and interests.

Not only is the castle incredibly interesting, in which you want to examine the smallest details, but also the tour itself with a story about the past owners of the castle and the purpose of such things that I would not have guessed. Inside it is very atmospheric and luxurious, I highly recommend going on a tour

This castle is a jewel. It is beautifully preserved and is of a scale that feels like a real home. Tracy, our guide, was one of the best we have ever had. She is full of good information and presents very clearly. She also never makes you feel rushed on the tour.
