Stunning beach situated next to the very popular Durdle Door. About a 10 minute walk from the car park (£15 per car) and down a steep set of steps after the coastal path. On hot, sunny days get there as early as possible. We arrived at 9am and had a good 1.5hrs before it got busy. Durdle Door always tends to be busier because of the limestone arch but we decided to try Man O’War beach are were not disappointed! Trolleys and bulky items not recommended on scorching days as the steps are fairly precarious. Definitely worth the visit!
I’ve been visiting Man O’ War beach ever since I was born! It’s so lovely there. While the steps down are a little large and require some mobility, it’s worth every step! The sea is much calmer than Durdle Door, making it an excellent choice for families with young children! There is a little more seaweed around, but please don’t be afraid - they’re just harmless water plants. For stronger swimmers, there is a large stretch of rock in the ocean that some swimmers like to climb onto (ideally with waterproof shoes). I highly recommend staying nearby to really be able to soak it all in. It’s such a joy to finally own a caravan nearby (The Cove, F53) to visit and rent out. It really is the kind of place that you never get used to! In all my years visiting, I still can’t get enough of this area. 😍 FOR WALKERS: Energetic walkers may wish to walk around the beach and onwards to an even more peaceful beach: St. Oswald’s Bay. Even more energetic walkers may wish to continue right to the end of St. Oswald’s Bay where there are lots of rocks and climb up the cliff and walk round to Lulworth Cove. There is a rough and very steep path to the left of the large area of rocks at the end of St. Oswald’s Bay that leads to Lulworth.
Shore is covered in pebbles . Well spent 2-3 hours with family🥳 Steep stairs - need careful attention, especially for children, people with knee pain and elders. There are no barricades at the top so be mindful and cautious. The view is lovely though🥰
Man O’ War Beach is a beautiful, tucked-away spot along the Jurassic Coast near Durdle Door. Getting there isn’t easy—it’s a steep and fairly tough walk, especially if you’ve got kids with you—but the effort really pays off. Once you reach the bottom, you’re greeted with clear water, dramatic cliffs, and a quieter, less crowded feel than nearby Durdle Door. It’s peaceful, scenic, and feels a bit more hidden. Overall: hard work getting there, but absolutely worth it in the end.
Man O’ War Beach is a beautiful, quieter spot right next to Durdle Door ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ It’s just as stunning, with incredible views and a much more relaxed feel compared to the main Durdle Door beach. The walk down is steep and the climb back up is tough, so good footwear is definitely recommended. It can also get quite windy and uneven underfoot. Overall, a great place to visit, the walk is challenging but well worth it!
