London, United Kingdom•4.7(118)•Art Gallery, Museum

Explore over forty interactive, hands-on mathematics exhibits designed to spark curiosity and reveal the beauty of maths in everyday life for visitors aged 1-100.

MathsWorld is London's first dedicated mathematics discovery centre, located beneath a railway arch on the South Bank with excellent transport links. The venue features over forty innovative, interactive exhibits that transform how visitors experience mathematics—from stepping inside giant soap bubbles and kaleidoscopes to laser-cutting shapes, cracking secret codes, and playing pool on an elliptical table. The hands-on approach appeals to lifelong maths enthusiasts, curious beginners, and those who've previously found maths challenging. The centre welcomes families, groups, and school classes, with visitors typically spending 1-2 hours exploring the exhibits. MathsWorld is particularly popular with visitors with ASD and is wheelchair accessible with accessible toilets available. The venue offers annual passes for all tickets, making repeat visits affordable, and provides free entry for children under 3. A packed programme of events complements the permanent exhibits, creating opportunities for deeper engagement with mathematical concepts. With its colourful, mind-blowing approach to revealing hidden mathematics in the world around us, MathsWorld serves as an educational and entertaining destination that has attracted praise as a major new London attraction comparable to the Science and Natural History Museums.

We had a great time at MathsWorld. Our daughter especially loved the interactive chess table that continuously calculated each player’s probability of winning as the game progressed. It was a brilliant way of making maths and computer science feel tangible. There are lots of hands-on exhibits demonstrating mathematical concepts. I’m not sure how much of the underlying theory our daughter absorbed, but she was engaged throughout, which is probably the most important thing. There were also several fascinating exhibits on cryptography, ciphers, and codebreaking that we as parents found particularly interesting. It’s one of those places where children can explore through play while adults end up learning plenty too. Well worth a visit if you’re looking for something a bit different in London.

My 5 year old daughter loved it, really well priced for what it is, loads of activities for all ages and very engaging, also was very glad it had Aircon downstairs. When you buy a ticket it becomes a year pass and definitely something you could visit multiple times. Highly recommend especially with a grown up who also likes maths, they will enjoy it as well!

My kid enjoyed interacting with all the different installations at the maths world, from the properties of shapes, speed, rotating gears, making 3d shapes from different 2d and 3d parts ,learning different types of cipher and encryption , the giant bubble making installation which engulfs you, the Canterbury arch , the tool which will give you squareroot just by rolling a metal ball and so much more. Its a fun visit where you can spend 2 hours or more

Oh my god, this place is amazing! Took my 5 year old for the day in the Easter holiday and she loved it. We spent the whole day there and there were still several things we didn't get a chance to do by the end. Lots suitable for her age, but also plenty of things more advanced, so we'll be back again. Such a wonderful variety of exhibits, and all very hands on and exploratory. She was genuinely upset when I said we couldn't go back the next day. Despite being busy in the middle of the day there was always something free for her to play with. No café or eating area on site, but they let you nip out for lunch and return (cafés nearby, we brought a packed lunch)
