Spent a lovely afternoon visiting this very spacious gallery. Staff were very pleasant, helpful and informative. I saw a beautiful exhibition by Claire Baker, fabulous work. Great to see so many ceramics too in the collections room. Easy to park (chargeable all days) and easy to get around building with lifts. Plenty for children to do in the entrance and a café on site although I didn't use it today (closed on Sundays). A great free admission day out.

Impressive high-quality gallery for Middlesbrough with some interesting presentations across three floors of galleries - all for free. I enjoyed the small, but worthy open-access collections store bringing together The Middlesbrough Collection that prior to MIMA was split across a handful of other institutions. The cafe is a delight to sit and have a quiet coffee in, with a good deal during March mornings. The roof terrace is a bit basic - would love to see some planting here or seating - but better than nothing. There’s also a slightly forlorn security presence at the entrance (not for the checking of bags). Seems a shame for a public cultural institute to have this as in my view these spaces should feel barrier-free. But i’m very assured that MIMA will do a good job hosting the Turner Prize.

I take my daughter to Mima Crafts Centre every Saturday, and we absolutely love it! They offer different crafts each weekend, which keeps things fun and exciting for kids. It’s become our little weekly tradition. While we’re there, we always make time to visit the café and it never disappoints. The homemade chips are a must-try: soft on the inside, perfectly cooked, and absolutely delicious. One of the highlights for me is their hot chocolate selection. They offer different cocoa percentages 50%, 70%, and 85% plus a wide range of syrups. I tried the honeycomb 80% dark hot chocolate, and it was honestly like a warm hug on a cold day. Rich, smooth, and so comforting! We also tried the pulled pork baguette and the coronation baguette, both were incredibly tasty and freshly made. Their blondies and brownies always look amazing with a lovely selection available each week. I haven’t tried them yet, but they’re definitely on my list for next time. The staff are always very friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. The freshly made fruit and cheese scones are huge and so yummy! I tried the fruit scone and loved it, can’t wait to try the cheese one next. They also offer a fantastic £1 picnic box for kids on Saturday I believe, which is such great value. It includes either a ham or cheese bun packed with veggies, plus fruit and a juice. It’s very popular and does sell out quickly, so it’s best to get in early They also sell a lot of other foods too! I just gave the opinion of what I have tried! Overall, it’s a wonderful place to spend time with family great crafts, delicious food, and a lovely atmosphere every weekend. We’ll definitely keep coming back!

Wonderful building filled with thought provoking exhibits. Unfortunately some of the areas were being renovated when I visited so didn't see as much as I was hoping to. The gift shop had mislabelled the price on some products which was unfortunate.

We enjoyed a short visit to this fabulous art museum. It is set in an attractive new building and it felt light and airy wandering the various exhibits. Staff were extremely helpful and kind. It was a pleasant visit and I would be tempted to revisit. It is also free with easy accessibility for parking. There is a cafe and simple souvenir shop. There are fliers and leaflets to communicate upcoming events and exhibitions.
