Enjoy three miles of golden sand with a family-friendly seafront offering play areas, pools, pitch and putt, and ice cream.

Montrose Beach stretches for three miles from Montrose to the North Esk River, providing stunning coastal views south to Scurdieness Lighthouse. This family-oriented beach features a convenient promenade with ample car parking and direct access to amenities including shops and an amusement centre. The beach is home to the Seafront Splash play area, designed specifically for children, along with pools and pitch and putt facilities. An ice cream parlour is on-site for refreshments. The distinctive Trail Pavilion, a historic structure built in 1913, houses public toilets that operate during peak times. Visitors can explore a circular walking route that extends along the full length of the beach before returning via an inland path that showcases the impressive North Water viaduct, now part of a dedicated cycle path. The walk originates from the car park at the Seafront Splash area, with the option to start directly on the beach via steps from the pavilion when tides permit. Dogs are welcome throughout this outdoor location, making it ideal for families with pets of all ages.

Excellent afternoon with Grandson. Enjoyed paddling in sea and playing in the splash land area. Counter selling ice cream which was brilliant. Couple of Mr Whippy's doesn't go a miss. 😎

Not much parking very close to beach BUT much more parking a short distance away. Nice little cafe right next to sea 🌊 front. Kids play area too. Nice view of the lighthouse and cliffs/shoreline northwards. It's possible to see the dolphins 🐬 there if you're lucky!!!

Found this place by chance and WOW we were lucky as the tide was out so the beach was massive, the sand was so smooth and hard enough to stroll around without sinking. Great play area for the children next to the coffee shop and free parking

We visited on a bank holiday weekend, it is a place that takes me back to my childhood so I always look forward to visiting Montrose Beach. The main part of the beach, the upper section before you descend the steps to the beach. There is car parking, little play park, public toilets, etc. There is disabled parking but at times, there are not spaces available. Depending on how busy the surrounding area and beach is. When the sun is shining then it is busier than normal. The only down side for me, is the steps to and from the beach but the beach itself was for the most part clean of litter and debris from the sea. I find with Montrose Beach, you are facing out to the North Sea so sometimes it can be windy and the weather is prone to change. The sea can be calmer but at times it is very choppy and care must be taken if you want to walk through the waves hitting the beach or trying to go further into the sea. I have visited this beach from childhood and it is one of my favourite places snd beaches on the east coast of Scotland. My review would be a 5 but with my mobility issues and the steps to access the beach, this affected my review. But saying that, when the weather is good, it is a lovely coastal view and experience.

Amazing beach so close the town and with a classic Scottish Linx in between. Lovely sand and lots of space even in a grey day a lovely place to bring the family. Had lots of really good amenities outside the beach like two places to buy food and a huge great playground. Also cool stuff like. A look out tower.
