Entry to the national maritime museum in Greenwich is free. The collection includes numerous objects form maritime history, from ship models, paintings, figureheads, maps, uniforms. Many exhibits are interactive, such as the ship simulator. A great playspace called 'Ahoy' for children ages 3-8 years old (requires timed ticket). Cafe and restaurant on site. Friendly and accommodating staff.

Excellent national museum. No cost to visit. Great exhibits including an area honoring Horatio Nelson. Saw the uniform he was wearing when he was shot and killed. Highly recommend making a special trip to visit this museum even if you have limited interest in nautical history. One block from the Cutty Sark.

Wonderful museum. I went for an event so was not able to wander as I would have wanted to: but from what I could see great exhibitions. Well worth a visit. The surrounding areas and markets are great too.

The National Maritime Museum down in Greenwich is an absolute winner for a rainy afternoon — and the best bit is it won’t cost you a penny to wander in 🌧️🆓 It’s absolutely rammed with history, from the jacket Lord Nelson was actually wearing when he got shot at Trafalgar (still got the bullet hole and everything) to enormous oil paintings of storm-tossed ships that are genuinely breathtaking up close 🎨⚓ The Great Map in the middle is brilliant for watching kids sprint across continents before they’ve even hit the café, and there’s enough model ships, sextants, and naval oddities to keep you busy for hours 🗺️🚢 Because it’s right there next to Greenwich Park and a stone’s throw from the Cutty Sark, you can easily make a whole day of it — wander the museum, grab a coffee, and then hike up the hill to stand on the Prime Meridian line like a proper tourist 📍☕ It never feels stuffy or overly academic either; there’s a real sense of adventure about the place, like you’re peering into Britain’s slightly mad, deeply obsessive relationship with the sea 🌊🇬🇧

One of the best museums in the UK. Situated near some of the best views of London also. This has many different areas to explore looking at Britain and her navy as well as trade and other maritime history. Some great artefacts here in a big facility. Ideal for all ages groups and group sizes. There is a cafe and restaurant type eateries here. Shop also.
