We’ve visited several escape rooms before and always had great experiences—until this one. Unfortunately, this was unlike anything any of us have taken part in before. My sister and I booked two rooms, Shipwrecked (from £15.50 per person) and The Dark (from £16.50 per person), for a group of ten, with five people in each room. Somehow, both rooms ended up costing exactly the same—£89 each—which didn’t make sense based on the listed prices. No one explained or broke down the pricing for us, which was confusing and frustrating. The staff experience didn’t help either. The woman who led our group seemed completely unenthusiastic and appeared to be in a bad mood the entire time. It honestly felt like she may have been covering rather than genuinely engaging in the role. She simply walked us to the rooms, shut the doors, and left. In all other escape rooms we have attended, there’s usually some level of immersion—whether that’s a bit of storytelling, theatrics, or at least a clear explanation of what to expect. There was none of that. The rooms themselves were very basic, with keys hidden around and random locks to open, but no real sense of structure. One key we found did nothing another key we found opened two locks and then I believe three keys were just hidden in places with no skill/riddles/clues to find them. Overall, it was highly disappointing and felt overpriced for what was provided.
