My mum and I decided this was the perfect hot day activity, lovely staff and beautiful views confirmed this. My mum has low mobility so we parked at Colyton station as this looked the easiest access and as far as I can tell had free parking (hopefully I don’t revive a ticket in the post). The trams are adorable and the views across the wetlands and estuary are lovely. We went on a weekday during the June 2026 heatwave and it was 👌

The town of Seaton itself is suffering the way many seaside towns are, with shop closures and a lack of investment. But Seaton Tramway is an absolute gem, and well worth a visit. A round trip is a little under an hour, but with stops at Seaton Wetlands and Colyford before termination at Colyton, the tramway can be used for a really good visit. Stop off at Wetlands and enjoy a walk around on a raised wooden platform, seeing tbe various water birds. It takes roughly 2 hours with stops and is flat and level. Colyford is small, but had a couple of decent pubs and an interesting tea and coffee rooms. Colyton is a fair walk from the terminus, but has a really nice cafe serving an excellent cream tea. I've not given too many 5 star reviews, but Seaton Tramway deserves one in my opinion. It is wheelchair accessible as long as you're using the downstairs part of the tram. Upstairs is open to the elements, but offers lovely views across the wetlands and the Axe Valley. I believe the wetlands are wheelchair accessible. Fido is welcome aboard. There is a large long stay carpark within about 200 metres.

Fantastic place and I've visited here many times from being a small boy to now in my 40's. It's a lovely day out and the stops along the route are stunning. Lovely cafe at the terminus where you can have a lovely cream tea where you have to have a scone with CREAM first, JAM second 😅 Seriously though, seaton tramway is a lovely place with lots of history.

Want to watch birds with a twist? We booked the bird watching special which runs once a month on a Sunday morning. Set your alarm, grab your binoculars and watch the birds around Seaton wetlands on top of a tram. The two hours flew passed and our guide, Steve, was incredibly knowledgable and talked us through all bird species we spotted on the estuary and surrounding marshlands. The tram doesnt go fully up the track, however its still a fun experience and worth booking on. Smile and wave at people (if any) in the hides as you go through.

First time visiting, all staffed by friendly, polite volunteers. The daytime ticket allows you to get on & off all the locations on route. The last stop is Colyton, a lovely little town, that's worthy of a stroll around, the station there also has a wonderful cafe & shop, I recommend the he cream tea.
